Let's Learn Moral Lesson from Adam and Hawwa (Eve)

Adam and Eve

Adam was the first man created by Allah. He was also the first prophet. He is Honoured by the tittle of Abu'l-Bashr ( The Father of Mankind ). Allah made Adam from Clay. After giving him a human form, Allah breathed his spirit into him. Unlike the angels who were only pure and devout, Allah gave him emotions such as love and understanding. He also gave Adam knowledge and the intelligence to choose between right and wrong. All  these faculties, which raised him above the angels, could also make him do evil, which by training of his will, he had to learn to reject. These faculties could lead him to the highest good, but also drag him to the lowest evil.

And (mention, O Muhammad), when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a succesive authority". They said "Will you place upon the earth who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know". (Chapter 2, Verse 30)

Hawwa (Eve)

Allah also created Hawwa (Eve), as the wife and loving compinion of Adam. Eve isn't actually mentioned by name in qur'an, in fact Eve is the name given to the first women in Bibble. However, in islamic tradition she is known by the name Hawwa. The qur'an also confirms that hawwa was indeed created from adam but doesn't go into detail.

It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he cover her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their lord. " If you should give us (child), we will surely be among the grateful ". (Chapter 7, Verse 189)

Iblis (Satan)

The Holy Quran has talked about Iblis (Satan) as a physical being made of fire, He is portrayed as a rebellious creature, basking in glory of the matter he was made of and showing arrogance to man, who was made of clay. To Satan’s mind, fire is far superior to clay because it can destroy clay with its power.

Then Allah asked the angels to bow before Adam. All of them did except the proud Iblis (Satan). He did not obey Allah because he believed that he was superior to Adam as he was made of fire. Allah asked him to go away and deprived him of His Grace. Later, due to Iblis prayer, Allah granted him respite till the Day of Judgement.

(Allah) said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" (Satan) said, "I am better than Him. You created me from fire and created Him from Clay.

Once day Iblis whispered evil to Adam and Hawwa who lived in the Gardens of Paradise in state of innocence and complete place.

He made them believe that he was their real friend and well wisher. At his suggestion, they ate a fruit from the forbidden tree which Allah had introduced them not even to go near. But Iblis told them that eating the fruit from this tree would make them angels and they would live forever. In fact, that was an evil and disobedience, then they comitted a sin and thus brought their own downfall.

He bagged for Allah forgiveness. Allah most merciful. He Perdon them but asked them to go down on earth. He warned them that Iblis was going to be their enemy till the day of Judgement and would tempt mankind into evil by making was unfair look fair to them.

Allah said that from time to time His prophet would guide mankind to the right path. Only those human beings would be saved from Iblis who followed Allah's guidance and the rest would go to hell.

Moral Lesson
  • Life on earth is temporary and test for mankind. Man should use his faculties of emotions, love, knowladge and intellegence to make choices and decisions in accordance with Allah's will.
  • Man's faculties could lead him to the highest good but also drag him to the lowest level.
  • Iblis would never stop whispering evil to mankind but Iblis can't harm the true worshippers of Allah.
  • Iblis has been Mankind's enemy till the Day of Judgement
  • Allah most merciful, He perdon mankind when they beg for His forgiveness.
May Allah always guide us to the straight path..
